Apartment Review for 460 Prentis - Detroit, MI

Prior to me moving in, my unit had been occupied by squatters, and the place was hardly cleaned. It was completely disgusting. The "maintenance" guy was dealing drugs out of the basement, and he was not the only one selling in the building. I felt completely unsafe the whole time I was there, and slept with a bat next to my bed. The neighborhood is not bad (I only moved about a block), but I would never ever live in that building again.

It took me a week to get the owner, Cheryl Huff, on the phone, and then she said it was not her problem. I told her that I would sue to get my money back, and she evicted me. I sued and won, but haven't seen a dime. Now she says that I owe her rent for the months the place sat empty AFTER SHE EVICTED ME. She reported me to a credit agency, and now my formerly perfect credit is terrible.

This woman lied about me in court, and continues to cheat me out of money. Do not ever rent from her. Nothing will ever get cleaned or repaired. She owns four buildings on this block of Prentis, as well as a building on Ferry, and elsewhere in the city.
