Apartment Review for Brainard Street Apartments - Detroit, MI

I would not consider this the ideal place to raise a family or even if you a single person/couple looking for a peaceful place to live. The apartment structures are nice to look at inside and out, however the majority of the residents here do not care or take pride in where they live. There is a lot of trash inside the hallways, and outside the building, including the parking lot. The lights in the parking lot are often out. Many of the neighborhood children destroy the hallway heaters, and damage the locks on the entry doors to the building. A group of children/teenagers that live in the complex, spray painted on a few buildings, set a trash dumpster on fire, and even just recently between July-August 2007, they burned the playground stucture to a crisp! I even started to see a few roaches due to the water leaking from the upstairs apartment. The neighbors, did not care that their dirty sink water was not going thru the drain pipe. The toliet from upstairs leaks a lot. There is even dope dealers living in these buildings, selling drugs to the many homeless people whom wander around and in the apartment complex. The management does not care, all they care about is making sure the rent is paid. Due to the doors being damaged, many homeless people come into the complex and urinate in the dryer and laundry room floor, sink. The city skyline is great, especially with The Motor City Casino backdrop however if the tennants are not screened or monitored, this place will become a eyesore like the rest of the Cass Corridor Area.
