Bad place all around
Review Date: 6/3/2010 Reviewer: Anonymous
As one of the longest tenants living here (since building opened,) take my advice and don't live here. The building and everything in it is now 2 years old. In just my unit the repairs have been extensive and constant. First the washer/dryer broke, and thats not saying much: it ruins almost any cloths you put in it. Then the furnace broke (winter time.) This was bad because on wed. the thing broke and maintenance was contacted, then by Monday the next week after 5 COLD (50 deg) days without help a repairman came out and then 3 days later the unit was fixed. Then the washer broke again leaking water all over. This time it was replaced with a dirty and equally defective unit. Flooding and repair men were part of my life through 5 of these washer/dryer pieces of garbage till I gave in and started washing EVERYTHING elsewhere. Whoever ordered 200 of these units would be fired by my employer- ten seconds on google could have reviled that the whole product line is a rip off. A few months back Wayne State University took over control of the parking lot; I heard because Studio One mgmt. wasn't fulfilling their arrangement. This, however, did not stop them from continuing to accept payment for parking on behalf of WSU for the next 5 months. I found out the hard way after my opener failed to let me out and made me late for work. The next day WSU informed me i had to walk to the office 6 blocks away and pay them for the last 5 months and for the summer (equaling about $1000 for two cars,) if i wanted to continue to park at my apartment. They informed me that the money I paid already wasn't their problem, and to take it up with Studio1. Starters bar is horrendous, with their rowdy customers frequently fighting, squealing tires, leaving garbage all over, and not to mention the restaurant staff messing up 2/3 meals. If thats not bad enough, when the restaurant closes the managers and staff sit in the parking lot blasting their car stereos at 3 am. I can clearly tell you what song they are playing with all my windows closed. Feel safe in that nice cheap (yeah right) parking garage? Dont be mistaken, endless starters and WSu traffic will have your doors dinged up, and perhaps you will even be involved in a confrontation with drunks on your way in your home. the 5/3 bank here sucks, and over drafted my account in error ( i never had less than $2000 in the account. ) The radio shack is garbage, and the clerk follows you around like your about to steal something. Bigby coffee cannot make a drink the same way twice for $5 a cup. If your lucky enough to not live on the inside court, you will either be kept awake by the gas station, woodward traffic, or subjected to the nasty smell of the Whitney's 8 dumpsters. The hall way of my floor has been a mess from day one and has gotten worse. There is bare drywall and metal hatches for access by workers who spend every 6th week sounding like they are boring through my apartment. To top it all off, the building's foundation has settled poorly, as is evident by the cracked patio slabs, and how none of the doors are balanced in this new bldg. Several door frames had to be cut out and redone leaving the apartments un-lockable for weeks. Don't be surprised if your notified about a suspect delinquency (<$600 for who knows what) not by a bill but an eviction notice. There were about 15 served yesterday on my floor. I wonder what they did with all that parking money? Anyway, i think you get the point. |
